Cooking Duck Breasts – Know How You Can Make Delicious Recipes

Preparing duck breasts for cooking

Air-dry the duck breasts for 3 days at least 1 day before in your refrigerator. This removes the moisture from skin and makes it crisp and ready to cook. Before cooking, take out the duck breasts from the fridge and let them come down to room temperature.

Pan-frying

 Pan-fry is one of the great ways to cook the meat as the skin becomes crispy. Score skin of duck breast and season it with salt. Fry the breasts in a frying pan on medium heat.

Once the fat releases remove it with a spoon. Cook them for 6 minutes, turn it and continue for another 4 minutes. Once the meat turns pink remove from the pan and serve after 10 minutes. You can also cook it in the oven, preheat the oven at 190°C. Once the duck breasts get cooked place them in a preheated oven and let them cook until the skin turns golden color.

Duck breasts (roasted) and plum sauce

Fry shallot in oil until softened. Add sugar and plum till it melts, then add stock and red wine and cook for 15 minutes. Once it thickens, leave it at the room temperature.

Heat oven at 180 C, score skin and season it with pepper and salt. Place them in a frying pan and fry for 6 to 7 minutes. Add star anise, butter and thyme and let it until it melts. Transfer it to a roasting tin and cook in the oven for 5 to 6 minutes. Baste it with juices, rest for a few minutes and serve it with creamed potatoes, plum sauce and buttered spinach.

Grilled duck breasts
